Something for Everyone

The Festival of Trees was delightful!  Kids dancing, groups singing, beautiful sound from a wind quintet from NCSOA, just plain fun.

And there were special items all around that brought back warm and fuzzy memories.  As a kid, everyone I knew had a Mr. Potato Head.  They just did.  It wasn't the "best of the best" as games went but it filled time with brief bursts of fun either by yourself or with a buddy.  I'll bet if you are over 40, you had one for sure!
Then when Zach was little, along came Woody!  And of course with all the little dancing darlings at the show, you know there was plenty of pink (aka the butterfly tree).

Thank Goodness for Nursing

Most of you know I am an oncology nurse "by trade" as they say.  And sometimes we all gotta do what we gotta do, right?  So, I'm fortunate to have found an excellent nursing position with High Point Regional and I started a couple of weeks ago.
What lead to this decision?  My husband, Steve has been in the lumber industry since college.  I don't have to tell you how the building industry is doing these days.  So after two layoffs, and much discussion, we both felt it was time for me to resume my career in nursing.

So what does this mean for the shop?  Knit Picky is alive and well!  In fact, this is the season where excitement and energy radiate through the old house!  It's contagious.  I read an article about women who run successful businesses and one sentence hit home with me.  "Hire good people and let them do what they do best".

I'm fortunate to have Margaret Harvey (aka Margie) as my new shop manager.  Most of you have meet her by now but if not, please meet her.  She has a calming, soothing personality and is just what you need when you've had a rough day!

Kim is amazing, and has been with Knit Picky from the early days.  Kim brings a artistic, daredevil energy to the shop.  She used to sky dive as a hobby so who can expect her to be a ho-hum knitter??

And our weekend girls are Samantha (my almost daughter 'cause we share a closeness and worked so closely together) and Shanna (she's like my little sis... adorable and fun and we connect like family)!  These two will be working every other Saturday.

Margie, Kim, Shanna and Samantha are very competent, hard working shop staff and are  eager to help you anytime.  And when we get lucky.....Inger, Belva, Susan are teaching and having a good time with students.  Nina is helping out on Tuesdays and has a unique knack for creating color schemes and designs.  Steve, my wonderful husband, is volunteering anytime the ladies need him around and that seems to be a lot these day. I secretly thinks he likes it there and you know what?  I can't blame him at all because it is a wonderful place to be.

And last but not least, Zoey is still numero uno shop dog!!  So, in a lot of words that's what is happening in my life right now.  I hope to see you on Saturdays and any chance I get to be in the shop.  Thank you for your generous support of this local business.  You have made the shop what it is today!

Hugs and happy knitting,
Jo
