For those who have seen the pieces and parts of the Debbie Bliss Baby Bobble Jacket, I thought that I would show you the finished product. I gave it to the Mom last week.

Charity Knit Night and Book Club TONIGHT!

Don't forget that tonight is the planning meeting for the NEW Knit Picky Book Club as well as the monthly meeting of the Charity Knitting group. Even if you haven't been before, you are welcome to attend either meeting. If you are a crocheter, bring a size K hook to Charity Knitting tonight and we will crochet some of our blocks together for our Warm Up America afghan. Knitters- we will be looking at yarns and patterns for Chemo Caps for our Breast Cancer/ Chemo Cap drive this fall. If you have a pattern or yarn that you think would make a great hat for a cancer patient please bring it tonight! Or you could browse these FREE patterns and pick one out to start on tonight. As always we will have bags full of donated yarn if you don't have anything in your stash. For chemo caps, its best to use soft, machine washable yarn that doesn't contain any wool.

Mirasol: Sweet Baby Llama!

Peru is having some dark days following the earthquake. On a brighter note, Peru' s heritage and culture of textile artistry is among the richest worldwide.

The Mirasol Project supports a school for local children of the shepherds who tend to the many animals in this region. Your purchase of this yarn helps support this valuable project. And the shepherds bring us yummy new yarns like these we've just received in the shop.

Mirasol patterns have been designed by well know Noro designer, Jane Ellison. Her patterns are beautiful and offer a variety of garments for various skill levels. We have yarn for any size project-full bags available.

Free Pattern for Lace Washcloth

Laura's Euroflax washcloth turned out so cute, shes decided to offer the pattern to you for free! Though she designed it for use with Euroflax, it could easily be adapted to work with other cotton or linen yarns. Click here for the pattern.

Crochet Today!

The shipment I have been waiting for has arrived!

We received our Louet boxes on Friday with lots of new yarn and patterns!!

We received both the fingering weight and the sport weight in Louet's Gems yarn which a machine washable and dryable merino wool yarn. The yarn is spun with a tight twist, which makes it great for textured work. The fingering weight would be perfect for those beautiful cabled sock patterns.

And, I will show you what I have planned for the sport weight ....

I am knitting the red one of course)

We also received Kidlin, a combination of Linen and Mohair, which is unbelievable. Here's a beautiful pattern we saw at TNNA. I wore the sample garment for a while, and might have walked off with it if it wouldn't have gotten Jo thrown out of the show:)

We also received Euroflax - an unbelievable linen yarn that is MACHINE WASHABLE and DRYABLE, and does not require ironing. Laura has already made a washcloth out of it and says its heavenly!

And, last, but not least, we received wool fiber and drop spindle kits.

Sock Blockers Have Arrived!

Several of you wanted to know when we got the Fiber Trends sock blockers. Well, there here!!

I'll have to say this picture works but they look so much sweeter sporting a pair of hand knit socks.

Happy Birthday Handsome Dad!

Just got back from a fun, relaxing visit with my Dad and his wife, Vicki. They live in Tennessee in a beautiful home on Lake Chickamauga. My sis and her 2 girls (Tallulah, 1 & Maya, 3) from Minneapolis met me down there and we surprised Dad!! He laughed and grinned a lot but was mostly speechless. Who knows....he may have been looking forward to a quite birthday with Vicki. Well, we fixed that!!



Thanks to Ann Marie, Laura & Juli for playing at the yarn shop and allowing me this get-a-way time. While away, we got some beautiful yarn from Elsabeth Lavold.

Harry Potter Knitting

Today is the big day, for those of you who are Harry Potter fans. The final Harry Potter book comes out tonight at midnight. To celebrate this momentous occasion, and promote knitting, several of us are going to take our Harry Potter knitting projects, from the book Charmed Knits, to Borders (at Thruway) this evening to sip coffee (or iced tea, depending on the weather) and knit. We hope that some of the kids, young and old, who are at Borders for the big HP party will be interested in our House Color hats, scarves, book marks and other projects and may realize a hidden passion for the magical world of knitting! Our finished toboggans will eventually be donated to Warm Woolies through the Charmed Knits KAL.

We would love to have you join us. We haven't decided what time we are heading over yet, but just give us a call (or an email) if you are interested!

Sock Club Gets Started!!

The Painted Sheep's Footprints Superwash yarn, in the "Knit Picky" color way, was the first sock yarn for the club and here are two of our favorite knitters in the shop to pick up their loot!!

New Arrivals- Friday July 6th

Today we had lots of boxes to unpack-- it was like Christmas in July! All sorts of goodies arrived from Lantern Moon including silk project bags, gelato silk ribbon and Sox Stix double pointed needles. From Pick Up Sticks we received several great felting kits-- Snugs (in sizes baby to adult), Sushi Wallets, the Blooms Bracelet, the Bell hat and one of each of the flowers. Laura has already started on one of the Snugs kits! The new Interweave special edition magazine on Felting arrived as did sock yarn from Cherry Tree Hill in every color imaginable. Come down to the shop and see all of our new treats!

Aaahh...the Lazy Days of Summer

We're taking the holiday off this week along with a couple extra days! The shop is closed Tuesday, July 3rd and Wednesday, July 4th and opens back up on July 5th...full swing ahead with our first Yarn Camp starting July 9th!! And don't forget our lauch party for Painted Sheep on July 14th, all day long!

I thought it would be a nice time for us to take a break and enjoy some family time and KNIT!! As you know, lately I've been consumed with learning this new business of mine and not much knitting. But hey, life in the yarn shop is all I dreamed it would be and MORE! Now for my holiday, I'm celebrating Independence Day with 100% cotton Ty-Dy yarn and lightning fast Addi Turbo's!! Knit Night continues to be GREAT FUN! I am so pleased that the summer months have not shown much signs of slowing down. Maybe I should be grateful for the unusually hot temperatures and the air conditioned yarn lounge! I want to thank you guys for using yarns from the shop or patterns from the shop. It really helps to show all of us at Knit Night how certain yarns look "knitted up" or how a pattern may be working out (or not). Anyway, I really appreciate your enthusiasm in promoting Knit Picky products!!

Just got an email today saying Cherry Tree Hill (or Crack Tree Hill as they called it at market) was set for delivery on July 6th. Whooo Hoooo!

We'll, that's about all for now. Just gave hugs and kisses to Steve's family as I swooshed them out the door after a weekend visit from Chattanooga. Time to knit!
